""ZEUS""
Un final feliz.
A HAPPY ENDING

viene dando a muchos perros gracias a
organizaciones como: GIN, GRB,
GALGOS IN NOT, SOS GALGOS, GRH...
This is an example of the many happy endings, which this society for
the protection of animals gives to many of
its dogs thanks to GIN, GRB, GALGOS IN NOT, SOS GALGOS,
GRH...
enfermedades o eutanasiado.
Conscious of the enormous problem of animals being abandoned in the
province of Cadiz, the Society for the local
Protection of Animals and Plants in that
city, (KIMBA refuge), decided months ago to
try and save ALL possible dogs that had been
abandoned and/ or maltreated. The big
problem lies in the fact that there is a
huge number of abandoned hunting dogs, and
the law regarding their identification by
microchips is systematically ignored. These
dogs are consequently hanged, burnt and even
buried alive by their “loving” masters, and
others end up in a local dog pound, where
they die due to overcrowding, diseases or
where they are put down to death.
This is one of many circumstances where KIMBA had given the poor
animals a happy ending.
ZEUS was abandoned by a hunter in the mountains of
Cadiz. It was wandering aimlessly about
around Villamartin, located in the province
of Cadiz, in Andalusia, the south of Spain.
It was captured by employees of the local
dog pound and was awaiting its turn to meet
death a few days later.
Los voluntarios de Kimba, reunidos en el
refugio, decidieron que podían entrar dos
galgos más de la perrera de Villamartín,
pues dos días antes habían salido varios
perros y teníamos espacio para rescatar a
dos más.
In one of their many meetings, the volunteers working at KIMBA,
decided that they had space for two more
greyhounds from the dog pound of
Villamartin, as a few days ago, some dogs
found a good destiny in the homes of dog
lovers.
preciosidades: “Triana” y “Zeus”. Los dos
llegaron a nuestro refugio muy asustados,
deshidratados y en unas condiciones físicas
lamentables, habiendo estado juntos en la
perrera se sentían protegidos uno junto al
otro, pero tuvimos que separarles para
evitar un posible embarazo.

One of the volunteers at KIMBA, went over one Saturday with his own
car, as usual, to that dog pound and rescued
two beauties: Triana and Zeus. Both arrived
to our refuge very frightened dehydrated and
in a terrible physical condition. Having
been at the pound together, they felt that
they received mutual protection being close
to one another. But we had to separate them
fearing an unwanted pregnancy of Triana.
Zeus tenía que ser esterilizado y, después
de quince días, pudieron estar juntos.
Zeus had to be sterilized and would later, alter 15 days, join his
companion.
Horror……
Alemania.
“What a let down!”--- thought Zeus, for a few days later, Triana
found a foster home in
Germany.
Zeus is a great jumping dog and often jumped the fence and wandered
around the installations of the refuge, and
could be easily seen by greyhound hunters
and dog delinquents. The volunteers at KIMBA
actually were apprehensive at the thought of
those hunters trying to steal some of the
dogs. They set forth rapidly to try and find
a foster family for Zeus.

Por fin!!!!! Greyhounds rescue Holland nos
comunica que ….. Zeus tiene familia en
Holanda. Hay que conseguir un vuelo para
sacarlo de España.
At last!!! Greyhounds rescue
Holland told us that Zeus had a foster
family in Holland. We had to find him a
flight to get him out of Spain
Primer intento .- Dos voluntarias de Kimba
…..
Viajan a Ámsterdam, rápidamente se prepara
toda la documentación de Zeus para el
Viaje. ….. intento fallido, por
problemas de sobrepeso en el equipaje,
viajarán dos perros pequeños de nuestro
refugio y Zeus tiene que esperar.
First time out: Two KIMBA volunteers could travel to
Amsterdam. They quickly did the paper work
and when it was all ready they discover that
there was an “excess baggage” problem, and
instead of Zeus travelling, two smaller dogs
did so.
Second try: a month later, a volunteer from
Germany informed us that they had found a
family for Zeus in Holland. Again the
paperwork was done and a few days before the
trip, we were told that there was a whole
team of golf travelling on that flight with
all its equipment, and again, Zeus had to
stay at KIMBA.
enero y no pasa nada….
unos voluntarios deciden llevarse a Zeus a
Third time round: a fortnight later, our friends at Greyhound Rescue
Holland tell us That Zeus would fly and
would be received by a volunteer of that
organisation in
Malaga Airport and that the foster family
awaiting Zeus would be impatiently expecting
him in Brussels. The days go by and the 24
th of January gets nearer and nothing
strange happens this time! That was
incredible: 2 days to go and everything
seemed to be all right! Some volunteers
decide to take Zeus home meanwhile and they
had a few wonderful days with the dog.
The belief that greyhounds are not good companions in
Spain is a complete fallacy.
They are extremely
love animals, placid and grateful, and this
breed is,
however, the most punished dog breed by its
owners in
Spain.
The big day arrived and Zeus traveled with a KIMBA volunteer in the
latter’s own car to
Malaga airport, as usually is the case.
Zeus looks at all what’s around him: everything is new and lively. It
is difficult to
understand the change in course that his life had undergone from the
suffering in the mountains of
Cadiz to the pleasant, happy and loving life
awaiting him in his new foster family home
in Holland
Zeus arrived to
Belgium and his new family took him to his
new home in Holland.
Ahora Zeus está disfrutando entre tulipanes
y nieve.
Now he is enjoying his new life between tulips and snow.
…….. Perhaps one day Zeus remembers that he was a Spanish greyhound,
one of many that face death in the Spanish
countryside. But thanks to KIMBA, he was
fortunate to find a happy ending.
KIMBA would like to manifest its gratitude to Carola from Greyhounds
Rescue Holland, for her love to Zeus
