Facinas,Cádiz  Spain close to Tarifa, the European capital of wind surfing

Dear Friends and citizens of civilized countries.

Once again, we feel obliged to show you some photographs of what happens in the “savage and dark” Spain, depicting a series of  atrocities which  some of us witness day to day in many towns and cities of our country.

It is horrid  and desperate to see and hear how the poor animal – in this actual case as in many others – suffers at the hands of savages.

This time, the unfortunate victim is a hound puppy: he was shot in the face at a close distance, as you can appreciate in the photographs, and had been aimlessly wandering in the streets of the village of Facinas,Cádiz  Spain close to Tarifa, the European capital of wind surfing,  desperately begging help and shelter from the villagers, which he did not receive.

He was finally rescued by a young lady, who told us that the villagers “alleviated” his suffering by kicking him away and hitting him with their broom sticks, as if the poor animal was something revolting.

Thanks to the kind hearted young lady who was visiting this “marvelously hospitable village”, the puppy could saved and it received all the care that it wa denied by some neighbours of the small town of Facinas.

As you could observe in the attached photos, the gun shot caused a loss in part of the puppy’s face and the head was absolutely filled with lead pellets. But it received veterinary care and the first operation was carried out in a satisfactory manner, In the Clinic of the veterinary collaborator of Kimba Dr. Santiago grosso, who will do the second operation to Teniente in the middle of January. Thanks to the invaluable help of Anne Finch (Greyhounds in Need), he has family in Germany waiting to receive it with all the love and care it was denied in this village. Not even the aggression of the pellets the atrocious savage had shot him will overcome the affection this puppy will receive from now on.

Dear friends. In the pound of Villamartín (Cádiz)  (Spain), there are in this moment 17  greyhounds  (day 10 of Nov 2004)expecting to be sacrificed. The refuge Kimba we are going to rescue some  greyhounds. Please if some organization can rescue and to pick up  some greyhound and to save their  life, can be put in contact with us or with pound of Villamartín to communicate that stop the sacrifice.
Cordial greetings.

Dear friends,

About a month ago, Juan Jesús stopped working at the municipal dog refuge at Villamartín, and as you well know, he had saved  the lives of many greyhounds (682)while he worked there. Before leaving, he said those that worked at the refuge, not to kill any greyhound but to call the KIMBA refuge before taking any drastic decisions.

We’ve received the first drastic call to save the lives of 7 greyhounds.

Thanks to the effort of our dear friend Anne Finch from GREYHOUNDS IN NEED, we have stopped the sacrificing of the poor dogs for the moment, but our big dilemma lies in the fact that KIMBA, the refuge where we’d like to have the dogs sent and saved, is 90 kilometres away (around 60 miles) from Villamartin, where the greyhounds are now. At this moment we’re working hard to convince the chief of the municipal dog refuge at Villamartín to permit one of his staff to bring us the 7 dogs to KIMBA. Once all the necessary tests, vaccines and des-parasiting have been applied, we’ll have to ask someone to lend us a vehicle to move the 7 greyhounds to the EPONA Equestrian Centre at Carmona in the province of Seville, 140 kilometres from KIMBA

Up till now, when we needed to transport dogs, we had to resort to the vehicles belonging to the volunteers that give us a hand at KIMBA, and some person has sometimes lent us a van. But due to the large flow of greyhounds to and from the Villamartin dog refuge, it will be impossible for us to be constantly asking for somebody to lend us an adequate vehicle. Under such circumstances, we’re afraid that if we do not recover the incoming dogs from Villamartin, they will certainly resort to the easy solution for them: to kill all greyhounds
It is very embarrassing for me to bring up the subject, but if I do not do so, my conscious will nag me for not having done all what I could have done.

Dear friends: KIMBA humbly needs a van to help us transport the poor animals. It doesn’t matter if it’s a used one, because all the trips it will do will be to save the lives of those unfortunate greyhounds

nowadays 27 October they have brought us 14 greyhounds.

We heartily thank you for your help.

Murder in tordesillas (Valladolid), Spain / This year they have murdered "RODANERO"

Dear friends.

Yet another year, lots of decent and kind people in our country feel embarrassed and ashamed of being Spanish.

One more year we have had to witness and to suffer one of the most sadistic and merciless traditions celebrated in Spain.

One more year we heard and felt the cries of agony of an innocent animal murdered by lances at the hands of some "brave" citizens of the town of Tordesillas in the province of Valladolid. The CITY COUNCIL OF TORDESILLAS justified, sponsored and legalised such an atrocious act, also plainly supported by the official organisms of the Junta de Castilla and León.

One more year our protests and accusations have been to no avail: this ghastly crime will remain unpunished in Tordesillas. Here is a summary of what they actually do in this "fiesta":

The celebration starts by the release of a bull in an open space, usually in the outskirts of the town. The "brave" citizens of Tordesillas then chase and harass the bull, throwing lances and other sharp objects at the poor animal. The latter, wounded, bleeds and tries to seek refuge in a helpless way. The condemned animal collapses, without any force, and that is when it encounters the climax of this sadistic ritual: our "brave" citizens proceed to cut off the bull's tail and testicles! This last cruel act is almost always carried out when the bull is still agonising and alive. Its testicles are shown off as trophies and exhibited to the cheering crowd.... It is difficult to comprehend, but this malicious and cruel deed is declared of touristic interest and is offered to honour the Virgin de la Peña.

.

This year we beseech everybody, citizens of our civilized world in Europe, and in the World to publish and distribute this atrocity, to help us end such murders, unfairly labeled "traditions", in Spain.

We also urge you not to visit Tordesillas, Valladolid or the Community of Castilla and Leon. We'd even venture to urge you not to visit a country whose national festivities have to do with the torture and the murder of innocent animals, a country that supports and legalizes such atrocities.

Thank you for your understanding and support

We are the protective society of animals of Cadiz

Founded in 1872,  the society originally directed its  energies to the care of plant life in the city, but over the years became envolved in rescuing stray animals.Realizando labores de albañilería

Later, some 9 menbers adquired a  area of 5.000 metre plot on which to establish a rescue centre.  With much effort and Enthusiasm  20 kennels were built, complete with dormitories and feeding areas for the 135 dogs and 7 cats now resident at the centre Name “KIMBA” in memory of a lioness once in our carethe rescue centre is kept going thank to members´annual subscription paying for food, all cleaning products and medicines.

A groups a animal  lovers do voluntary work 5 days a week cleaning kennels,  feeding, and caring for the animals in residence.

Sad to say, hundreds of dogs, cats, and other species are abandoned every year. We are not able to attend to them all as our funds are insufficient to provide the extra space.  We recive no official subsidies as no animal is systematically destroyed.   The society relies exclusively on its membership fees.

We need donations  to take care of our animals.
