“Simone”
......... the little podenco lady.
This is the story of “Simone”,
a little podenco lady, that will hopefully
have a happy ending.
Tuesday, the 19th
of July we received a phone call from our
friends of the perrera in Villamartín. They
told us al littel female podenco was brought
in, her little back leg, completely
destroyed by a trap.We decided to take care
of this little doggy and the following day
we picked her up to bring her to our
shelter, so she could be operated by our vet
Dr. Santiago Grosso, from the animal clinic
"Plaza de España" in Cadíz. Unfortunately he
had to amputate her leg.

.Here
you can see the deplorable state her leg is
in, all due to one of the horrendous traps,
of which there are so many to be found in
our countrysite. These killing tools are
placed by despised hunters, who are
being supported by idiots that call
hunting a sport!

We are trying
very hard to find her a family, who wants to
give her all the love she has been
denied, and hopefully will make her forget
her infernal life in the Sierra of Cadíz.

The
surgery was very complicated and
painful for the little dog, but
we believe there won't be any
complications.

Right
now the little Simone is
recuperating at the house of one of
our volunteers, untill the moment
all her injuries are cured and she
is fit to travel.

Thanks
to the fantastic help of GIN
and GRB, the little
Simone will begin her second
life with a wonderful family in
Belgium. She has completely
recoverd from her operation.....
these
photographs were taken when we said
goodbye to her (September 23, 2005

**********
the little "Simone" with her
new family in Belgium..

This letter was send to us by
our darling Simone.......
I (Simone) am so sorry that I
didn't sent you a letter
earlier. But I am having a
great time here! I like to
drive in the car. In the
beginning I was a little
afraid but now I know that we
are going to do something
special than! Like a visit to
the see. Oh jee, The beach is
lovely but the waves are to
big for a little podenco like
me and than my father has to
carry me. My sisters take
good care of me. Tania the
eldest one is like a mom for
me and Lana is my partner in
crime. When I want to go to
sleep, mom puts me to
bed.mmmmmmmhhhhh food is great
(sometimes things "fall" from
the table!) My sisters and I
agree that it is to little but
mom & dad say that it is
enough for us! In the living
room burns a fireplace every
evening so that makes things
cosy. Mom & dad says hi and
wanted to thank you again for
bringing me into their lives.
Big Belgium hugs
