**Santiago was
delivered the day April 22 in Vic
(Barcelona) to the organization friend
"Galgos in Not."**

Una ciudadana de Cádiz volviendo a casa
después de un ingreso hospitalario de varios
días, tiene que esquivar con su coche y en
una maniobra brusca por la carretera que
transitaba, a un pobre galgo atropellado y
que, como consecuencia de las heridas
sufridas no le era posible moverse.
On
her way home after having been in hospital
for a few days, an inhabitant of
Cadiz, almost runs over a
greyhound that was in the middle of the road
and that had already been hit by a car. The
poor dog was in a bad state and could hardly
move.
A pesar de lo peligroso del sitio, ésta
chica consigue detener su coche en al andén
y desde su móvil realiza varias llamadas a
fin de que alguien la ayude a recoger al
perro y poder llevarlo a una clínica
veterinaria. Contacta con la Policía
Municipal de Chiclana de la Frontera, que
amablemente les dicen que se ponga en
contacto con la Empresa “El Refugio” que es
la perrera municipal , que a su vez le
informan que ellos no pueden desplazarse
hasta ese lugar y que sea ella sola quien lo
recoja y se los lleve hasta Puerto Real. En
ese momento se le ocurre ¿y Medio
Ambiente?..pues no, tampoco porque según le
contesta la persona que le atiende el
teléfono “el asunto no es de su
competencia”. Como si se tratase de una
mala pasada que le juega el destino, realiza
una llamada a la
una Clínica Veterinaria de El Puerto de
Santa Maria “Purina”, en dónde también le
dicen no poder atender al galgo.
She
stopped her car by the curb despite the
danger of doing so and proceeded to seek
help through her mobile telephone. At first
she called the local police in Chiclana de
la Frontera, who in turn kindly asked her to
get in touch with the “Refugio” the dog
pound. She did so and was told that they
could not go over to get the wounded animal
and she had to do it alone, and take the
poor dog to Puerto Real herself. Than she
thought of calling Environment…why not? She
did so and the person that answered her call
told her that this matter was beyond their
responsibility! It was all like a bad dream
and as a last effort; she decided to call a
local vet clinic, “Purina”, in El Puerto de
Santa Maria. But there again she was faced
with another “sorry, but we can’t do
anything about it”
Desesperada por el mal estado en el que se
encontraba el animal, al que tuvo que
arropar con una manta que llevaba en su
coche debido a las bajas temperaturas de la
mañana, consigue acordarse como en un sueño
que en Cádiz existe una sociedad protectora
de animales. Entonces es cuando pide ayuda a
Kimba, que sin dudarlo un solo momento
decidimos hacernos cargo de éste pobre
galgo.
Vergonzosa la la aptitud que mostraron
todas esas personas al dar un ”No es de mi competencia”
a una petición de auxilio. Sepa ese
policía de Chiclana, ese funcionario de
Medio ambiente, ese trabajador de la
perrera, esa “Clínica veterinaria” de
Purina y las personas que dijeron que
llevaba el galgo allí dos días, a todas
éstas personas, las cuales negaron dar
auxilio a un animal herido que padece y
siente lo mismo que cualquiera de nosotros.
Que se deben de sentir avergonzados por su
desprecio a un ser sintiente, y que un día
todos podemos encontrarnos en esa situación
y nos pueden pagar con la misma moneda.
Desperate for the terrible state of the

employee at the animal refuge, the local
police officer, the civil servant at
Environment, the veterinary clinic… all
those that refused to help the poor dog
ought to feel ashamed of what they had done
for turning their back to a living being who
needed their help: one day, they themselves
may need aid and might not receive it due to
the selfishness and heartless acts of some
people.
Hoy Santiago que es el nombre que le hemos
puesto a éste galgo, ha sido operado y está
recuperándose en casa de una voluntaria de
Kimba.
Today,
Santiago, the greyhound that had been
rescued, has been operated on and is
recovering from his ordeal in a house
belonging to one of the volunteers of Kimba.
