OUR HISTORY

This protective foundation was founded in 1872. Originally people were dedicated only to the caring of plants, but throughout the years they also started caring for neglected and abandoned animals. Nine co-workers achieved a terrain of 5.000 square meters, to create a home for the rescued animals. Thanks to an incredible amount of idealism and perseverance they realised 20 shelters, where these animals could survive. They are specially equipped with little resting places and places for the animals where they can eat in private. At the moment they shelter 143 dogs and 10 cats, this is exceeds by far the shelter limits!

The shelter was named ‘KIMBA’ in memory of a lioness that was cared for by our organisation. We can look after these kind of animals because our supporters are willing to pay for food, medication and all the necessities to keep them in good shape.

Unfortunately, hundreds of dogs, cats and other animals, are left behind at almost every corner of the streets. It is impossible for us to shelter and take care of all those animals, for the simple reason that we don’t have the space or the money to take good care of them. We don’t receive any subsidy or other help from the government, because we don’t support their mercy killing policy. The only financial contribution we receive is from our members.

THE FACILITIES

A picture sometimes tells more than a thousand words…..

Everything is made and paid for by our friends, without any help at all from the outside. In these buildings our animals find shelter and can live a worthy life, while they are waiting for a new family, where they can be loved. For many of them this is the last chance to get a new life!

We need all the help we can get, to be able to continue helping the animals and that we can be sure that all this can go on existing.

RECOMMENDED LITERATURE BY  S.P.A.P. IN CÁDIZ

Sometimes they ask me: ” Why do you invest so much time and money in animals, whereas there is so much cruelty in the humand world?” My answer is always the same: “My task is to help at the source of life”
